Mrs. Ruth Barbee Ellis

Ruth Barbee Ellis, 86, of Phenix City, Alabama, went to be with her Lord on October 26, 2022, while a resident at Ridgecrest Nursing Facility in Columbus, Georgia.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM EST on Friday, October 28, 2022, at Lakeview Memory Gardens with Reverend Steve Williamson officiating. The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 AM EST at Vance Brooks Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ellis was born in Phenix City, Alabama, the daughter of the late C. F. “Hoke” Barbee and Lottie Statham Barbee. She attended high school at Central High School in Phenix City and later achieved her business certificate from Meadows Business College. Mrs. Ellis worked in the local banking industry for nearly fifty years prior to her retirement. Cooking was her passion in life, never missing an opportunity to prepare a Sunday meal for her family every week. She would display her love for you by cooking everyone’s favorite dish. Mrs. Ellis often read cook books as though they were novels, comparing “the book’s” recipes to those of her own. Another favorite past time was enjoying vanilla ice cream, Oreos and Diet Cokes. Above all, she treasured the time she spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchild.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ellis is preceded in death by husband William “Ed” Ellis and brothers Raymond E. Barbee and Homer R. Barbee

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Tori Endres and husband Joey of Salem, AL; son Mark Ellis and wife Gloria of Crawford, AL; sister June B. Rice of Phenix City, AL; grandchildren Megan Endres and Kyle Endres and great grandchild Jacob “Hayes” Brannon.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting contributions be made to the “Richardson Scholarship Fund” at Crawford Baptist Church located at 4503- U.S. Highway 80 West Phenix City, AL 36870.
