Samuel Hobson Streetman, Jr., affectionately known as “Mr. Sam” or “Pap,” of Hurtsboro, AL, was called by the good Lord to his forever home on May 8, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on April 20, 1934, to Samuel Hobson Streetman, Sr. and Mary Rolean Corbitt Streetman, Sam lived a life defined by faith, humility, and deep love for his family.
In 1951, Sam married the love of his life and best friend, Marion Moore Streetman. Together, they built a beautiful life centered around faith, family, and devotion to one another for nearly 75 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; his infant sister, Sarah Inez; and his brothers, Mason and Gene Streetman.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Marion, and their six children: Susan S. Giles (Michael), Lyn S. Jones, Joni S. Wesley (Tim), Penny S. McKinney (Dan), Melanie S. Humphreys, and Sam Streetman III (Tracey). He also leaves behind grandchildren Christian Cox, Olivia Cox, Tai Skinner (Sean), Charley Jones (Marlo), Joe Jones, Jane Matthews (Spencer), Adam Wesley (Shannon), Kerri Wesley, Dan McKinney III (Bridget), Allison Tinn, Maurice LaMontagne, Carrie Sigman (John), Beth Wakstein (Brad), Ryan Hattaway, Hobson Streetman (Brittany), Boone Streetman, and Celie Streetman, along with many beloved great-grandchildren.
A lifelong cattleman, even after retiring at 90 from the work he loved so dearly, Sam never truly retired in spirit. His hands told the story of his life—worn from years of hard work, dedication, and caring for the land and livestock that meant so much to him. Whether farming, raising cattle, or managing a hunting plantation for his longtime friend and employer, Richard “Bo” Bradley, he found purpose and joy in every sunrise and every season. His legacy of honesty, steadfast faith, unconditional love, and quiet strength will continue to grow in the lives of all who knew and loved him.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 12, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM (EST) at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL, and graveside services will be held on Wednesday, May 13, at 3:00 PM (EST) at the Hurtsboro Cemetery, Hurtsboro, AL.
