Sandiy Hinton was born on July 6, 1946, in Columbus, GA, to the late John Hamilton Dukes and Peggy Eloise Dukes. After high school, she obtained her business degree and joined the United States Marine Corps. Sandiy had a deep fondness for the Marine Corps and was very patriotic. She later worked as a Finance Manager until retirement. Sandy was a member of Crawford Road Baptist Church in Phenix City, AL, and loved to serve and worship her Lord and Savior. Sandiy often volunteered for the Baptist Children’s Home to give back to her community. She always looked forward to her next trip with her sister. They often traveled to see landmarks and beautiful scenery with one of her favorite trips being to Alaska. Sandiy had a special bond with her sister, who she said was her best gift. Born on the same day as her at the age of 7, Sandiy took care of her like she was her own. Sandiy loved to cook as was well known for her spaghetti, meatloaf, dressing, and especially her fluff. She adored her dog, Cutie, and spent a significant amount of time with her. She was a sweet, loving, and caring woman, and was widely known to be strong, brave, hard-headed, and funny. Sandiy also loved Alabama Football! She adopted her grandson, Preston, and raised him as her own. Family was what Sandiy cherished the most. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
