Sarah “Carolyn” Sims

Sarah Carolyn Sims, 86, of Newnan, GA passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2022 in her home at Monarch House in Newnan, GA. Funeral services will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, 606 Turner McCall Blvd., Rome, GA on Saturday, September 24, 2022 beginning at 1:00 PM with Nanci Hicks officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM, with the service immediately following. At the conclusion of the service, there will be a fellowship meal at Olive Garden.

Carolyn was born on July 10, 1936 in Rome, GA to Otto Swinford and Mable Madden Swinford. She worked for the State of Georgia, retiring after a successful career as an accountant.

Growing up confident and self-assured, Carolyn enjoyed her position as the oldest of five children, dotting her I’s and crossing her T’s. Carolyn lived her life with a generous spirit and a heart of gold. She loved her friends, and she loved her family. Carolyn loved people with the love of the Lord, whom she faithfully served. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, church family at Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Newnan, GA, and everyone else whose lives she so sweetly touched.

Other than her parents, Carolyn is preceded in death by her brother Paul Swinford, who is survived by the love of his life Vicki.

Carolyn is survived by her daughter Diane (Gordon) Taylor; son David (Vicki) Sims; sister Charlotte (Billy Ray) Bedwell; brothers Marion (Kathy) Swinford and Mather (Carolyn) Swinford; 8 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several extended family and caring friends.
