Sondra Gail Welch Gipson

Sondra Gail Welch Gipson, 73, of Phenix City, AL died at her home on Wednesday, August 17, 2022.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM (EST) on Friday, August 19, 2022 in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL with Rev. Dwayne Dean officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday from 1:00 PM till the funeral hour at the funeral home.

Mrs. Gipson was born June 01, 1949 in Blakely, GA daughter of the late Lannie Welch and Eunice Jordan Welch. She was a homemaker who loved every minute of her life. Her gift to everyone was caring for children, no matter who’s they were. A favorite pastime was shopping with family and friends. Mrs. Gipson loved to walk, especially in her neighborhood. While not everyone knew her name, they knew her smile as she walked and greeted them warmly. Mrs. Gipson also had a sweet spirit that just drew folks to her, and she loved everyone. She has left an empty space in our hearts, but the memory of her beautiful smile will help to fill our hearts.

Mrs. Gipson was preceded in death by her parents, Lannie and Eunice Welch; her husband, Henry Theo Gipson; six siblings, J.D. “Bud” Welch, Bobbie Evans, Betty Hodges, Myrtle Hodges, Homer Welch and Odell Welch.

Survivors include her two daughters, Angila “Angie” Gipson Smith (James) and Terri Gipson Pilson (Robert); one sister, Debbie Cloud; four brothers, Freddie Welch, Gary “Hot Rod” Welch, Ronnie Welch and Eddie Welch; “adopted daughter”, Erica Martinez and “adopted son”, Darryl Gay;  six grandchildren, Britteny, Nathan, Adrianna, Dakota, Jessica and Sierra; three precious great-grandchildren, Destiney, Gabriel and Cameron; numerous nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
