Stacy D. Cotton Fillingim

Stacy D. Cotton Fillingim, 56, of Phenix City, AL stepped in the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ while at Piedmont Columbus, Midtown, Columbus, GA on Thursday, September 16, 2021.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM (EST) on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, in the Chapel of Vance Brooks, Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL with Rev. Ronnie Chaney officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM till 8:00 PM on Monday evening at the funeral home.
Ms. Fillingim was born December 23, 1964, in Lakeland, FL daughter of the late Shelby G. Cotton and Millie Herring Cotton. She had worked for SYNOVUS for many years in the Information Security Department, a job she enjoyed. She was known for her hens and the delicious eggs they provided. Stacy often shared their bounty with others. She was an active member of White Rock Assembly of God, where she loved worship and serving in various ministries. Stacy loved Alabama Football and the game day fun fall brought about. She was often heard telling others to “Put on the full armor of God” and “Hanging in there like a hair in a biscuit”. In fact this last phrase was the name of a book she was writing, titled “Hanging in there like a hair in biscuit”. A story of her life’s adventures and her being a “daddy’s girl”, however she was not able to complete it as she struggled to write about her mom’s death. She loved God and her family, especially the grandchildren. We will remember her strong faith that she lived out daily and her love of family.
Mrs. Fillingim was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Dennis Cotton.
Survivors include her two daughters, Courtni Brooks (Doc) and Shelbi Lopretto (Adam) all of Phenix City, AL; two brothers, Steven Cotton and Chris Cotton; sister, Nanette Saavedra (John); seven precious grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and friends.
