Stanley Keith Thomas, 66, of Salem, Alabama, went to be with his Lord on Monday, July 24, 2023, at the East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Alabama, while surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM EST on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at Summerville Baptist Church, located at 3500 Summerville Road Phenix City, AL, with Rev. Robb Goodman officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will begin receiving friends at 10:00 AM EST at the church.
Mr. Thomas was born in Columbus, Georgia, the son of the late Roland Thomas and O’Dean Bragg Thomas. After high school, “Stan” as he was known to his friends, attended Auburn University where he achieved his Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing. Auburn University became ingrained into his life and he carried the “War Eagle” banner wherever he went. As an avid football fan, he could always be found on gameday tailgating with his friends. Stan was employed by McKesson Drug Company for over thirty-two years where he served in management and sales. His career took him to Lubbock, Texas which is where is met the love of his life Ruthie Jones Thomas. Stan enjoyed everything outdoors to include playing golf, hunting and camping. He truly enjoyed time spent on the water boating and fishing. Stan was described as always “Practicing the Art of Living” and he never met a stranger. Above all, Stan loved his family, especially his son and grandson.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by a brother Gene Thomas.
Those left to cherish his memory is his wife of thirty-nine years, Ruthie Jones Thomas; son Spencer Thomas, his wife Molly and grandson Shepherd Thomas, all of Troy, AL; brother Scottie Thomas and his wife Devy of Smiths Station, AL; several nieces and nephews and a host of extended family members, close friends, coworkers and church family.
