Susan T. Shores, 69, of Phenix City, AL, entered her heavenly home on May 29, 2025. A visitation will be held at Philadelphia Baptist Church on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at 1:00 pm EST, followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 pm EST officiated by Rev. Clay Duck. A private burial will take place at a later time.
Susan was born at Cobb Hospital in Phenix City, AL, on May 28, 1956, to the late Dorothy Juanita Mattocks and Ernest Young Thompson. She had three children with the love of her life, Rick Shores, and genuinely loved life. She remained faithfully married to her husband for 16 years and remained devoted to him even after his tragic and unexpected passing. Susan was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church and loved her church family. She lived a farm lifestyle, caring for her garden and animals. She had a particular love for donkeys and chickens. Susan also loved to cook, bake, and canning. She was talented in all she did and had a particular gift for being able to make realistic cakes, such as spaghetti or burger themed cakes. She loved her family most of all. Being the mother of her children and granny to her grandchildren was her proudest accomplishment in life. She spent as much time as she could with them, teaching them all she knew and sharing her hobbies. Her children have endless memories of doing crafts, going on big and small adventures, and all the laughs they shared. Susan and her family took many trips, especially enjoying the beach, mountains, and Disney. She was known as a “big kid”. She was goofy, fun, and playful no matter what difficulties life threw at her. Susan enjoyed life to the fullest, having shaving cream fights in the Disney hotel, having prank wars with her children, and starting new holiday traditions for her family. Susan was incredibly loving and a special person. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
Susan Shores is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard “Rick” E. Shores; parents, Dorothy Juanita Mattocks and Ernest Young Thompson; and paternal and maternal grandparents.
Susan is survived by her daughters, Casey Shores, Naomi Sapp (Stephen); son, Kevin Shores (Jennifer); sister, Debra Suggs (Hoyett); and grandchildren, Richard Roberson, Wyatt Sapp, Ethan Shores, Logan Shores, and Adilin Shores.
