Thelma Catherine Garrison

Thelma Catherine Garrison, 74, of Smiths Station, AL entered peacefully through Heavens Gates while at St. Francis Hospital, Columbus, GA on Thursday, September 29, 2022.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:30PM (EST) on Monday, October 03, 2022 in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL with Rev. Barry Danner officiating. Interment will follow in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM (EST) on Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Garrison was born January 20, 1948 in Romney, W. VA where she was raised by the late George and Ethel Havner. She was a Sergeant in the U. S. Marine Corps. After serving our Country proudly, she joined the civilian work force and family life. She never lost the Marine Corps “attitude” though. Mrs. Garrison loved her family more than life itself, especially the grandchildren. She was always busy working either at home or in the workforce, but the one thing we will always remember and cherish was her faith. Her faith was something she lived out on a daily basis as she served faithfully along side of her husband of 55 years the Rev. Norman Garrison.

Mrs. Garrison was preceded in death by her foster parents, George and Ethel Havner and her siblings.

Survivors other than her husband, Norman Garrison, include her five children, Kerry Cottrell (Dean), Steven Garrison, Gennifer Anderson (Mikki), Carrie Collier (Andrew) and Amber Garrison; one brother, Robert Blackburn; nine grandchildren, Austin Cottrell (Kristen), Catherine Blackwell, Jasmine Garrison, Emily Cottrell, Danielle Collier, Johnathan Kill, Andrew Collier, Jr., Kimberly Anderson and Savannah Anderson; one precious great-grandchild, Anthony James Evans; several other family members and friends.
