Twyla was born on June 2, 1951, to the late Elbert Hannan Goodson and Hazel Ruth Goodson in Smyrna, GA. She married the love of her life, Glen Hodnett, in 1970 and remained his devoted and loving wife for 40 years until his passing in 2010. Twyla obtained her master’s degree in early childhood education and loved her career as a teacher at various schools, notably Park Elementary, until her retirement. In her free time, she enjoyed doing anything crafty. She would do paper crafts, macrame, pottery, and was beginning to learn watercolor. Twyla also enjoyed writing and even accomplished writing a book that she kept close to her heart. She spent much of her time reading and loved cooking. Twyla was known to make the best cornbread and chocolate chip cookies. She loved her family most and spent as much time with them as she could. Along with the family she created, she also considered many others to be family and stayed close to those she loved. She had a heart as big as Texas and would help anyone in need. Twyla was witty, irreverent, and had a great sense of humor. Twyla was a special woman and will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
Twyla Hodnett is preceded in death by her husband, Glen Hodnett; parents, Elbert Hannan Goodson and Hazel Ruth Goodson; and brother, Gerald (Agatha) Goodson.
