Verlon Boutwell Pilkinton, 84, of Phenix City, AL died at her home on Friday, September 17, 2021 with her family by her side.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM (EST) on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL with Rev. Mike Turner officiating. A private interment will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be nephews, Rufus Boutwell, Mike Boutwell, Wiley Boutwell, and Lamar Wynn. The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm, one hour prior to the funeral, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Pilkinton was born November 13, 1936 in Coffee County, AL daughter of the late S. Clifton Boutwell and Willie B. Sanders Boutwell. She had lived in Phenix City since 1952 and became very involved in the community. Mrs. Pilkinton worked at Schwobilt Clothes and later retired from Phenix National Bank now Regions Bank. Other community activities included serving on the Girls Club Board for many years and as a member of B.P.W. A. Club. She also served at a Past President of the Phenix City Jaycetts and working with the Miss Phenix City Beauty Padgett. While she was busy in the community, she never forgot her family and the responsibilities to them. We will miss her, but our community and our family will always cherish her in our hearts.
Mrs. Pilkinton was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Patrick “JP” Pilkinton; siblings, Hazel B. Paul, Leo Boutwell and Glenn Boutwell.
Survivors include her daughter, Debbie Pilkinton Bright of Phenix City, AL; a brother, Roscoe Boutwell; a granddaughter, Amy DeRee Marshall; two special great-grandchildren, Gabe Marshall and Logan Marshall; several nieces, nephews and caring friends.
