Virginia Dean Wingard

Mrs. Virginia Dean Wingard, 83, of Phenix City, Alabama, went home to be with her Lord, on Monday, May 29, 2023, at the Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, Georgia.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM EST on Friday, June 2, 2023, at Philadelphia Baptist Church, located at 7807 Lee Road 246, Smiths Station, Alabama, with Rev. Clay Duck officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM EST at the funeral home.

Mrs. Wingard was born in Montgomery, Alabama, the daughter of the late Frank Dean and Frances Gamble Dean. Virginia graduated from Wetumpka High School and went on to attend the University of Texas at El Paso. Virginia had a successful career in banking, where she worked for most of her life. She retired as Vice President of SouthTrust Bank. After her retirement, she pursued a career in real estate and was a successful agent for the last 25 years. She was a faithful member of Philadelphia Baptist Church for over forty-eight years.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wingard was preceded in death by her husband Robert S. Wingard Sr; sister Ruth Waites and great grandson Hyden Werner.

Virginia is survived by her four sons, Robert S. Wingard Jr. (Tammy), Mike Wingard (Kimba), Greg Wingard (Carol), and Matt Wingard, her sister Frances Borders, 12 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

Rest in peace, Virginia. You will be greatly missed by all who knew you.
