Wae Tae Yu Evans

Wae Tae Yu Evans, 74, of Columbus, Georgia, passed away on December 20, 2025. A visitation will be held at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 3738 Hwy 431 N., Phenix City, AL 36867, on Sunday, January 4, 2025, at 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm EST. A Memorial Service will be held at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City, AL, on Monday, January 5, 2025, at 12:00 pm EST, followed by a committal service at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery.

Mrs. Evans was born on July 1, 1951, in South Korea, where she was raised to adulthood. She then moved to the United States and began opening businesses with her late husband of 30 years, Jimmy Evans. Mrs. Evans enjoyed owning and operating several Young’s Hot Wings until retirement. She held her faith close to her heart, most recently being a member of Korean Methodist Church where she was baptized. In her free time, she watched Korean Soap Operas and loved being with her family. She loved to cook for her friends and family any time she had the opportunity. Mrs. Evans had a green thumb and cared for numerous plants. She was a nurturer at heart and cared for people deeply. She was humble, quiet, and always positive. Anyone who knew her knew she would be supportive, loving, and kind. Mrs. Evans also enjoyed traveling to the beach to deep-sea fish, especially to Destin, Fl, and Jacksonville Fl, and going to the casino. Most of all, she loved her grandchildren. Mrs. Evans will be missed deeply by those who knew and loved her.

Wae Tae Yu Evans is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Evans; daughter, Debra Stone, and parents. She is survived by her children, Sage Evans and Brandy Gabbard; sister and two brothers still in South Korea; grandchildren, Eddie Gabbard, Kam Gabbard, Chris Stone and wife Tiffany as well as their children, Parker, Carson, and Bailee, Brianna Evans, and Desiree Evans; and honorary sister, Emo Richardson. The family gives a special thanks to her dear friends Elgin Bailey and Gwen Tidwell who helped and supported her in her final years.
