Mr. Wayne Lake, 82, of Phenix City, AL died peacefully Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family.
A funeral service will be held 12:00 noon EST Thursday, September 25, 2025 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City, AL with Rev. Chris Herbert officiating. A private interment will follow. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
Mr. Lake was born October 20, 1942 in Columbus, GA, son of the late Douglas Lake and Faye Hicks Lake. He spent over 30 years in the banking industry, where he loved helping people with their first car or starting a business. The last position he held was Executive Vice President of CB&T of Russell County. Mr. Lake served in multiple civic organizations down through the years. He was always very involved in the community. Mr. Lake’s hobbies included golfing, hunting and fishing. However, his greatest love was spending time with his family. Mr. Lake was a long time member of Epworth Methodist Church. He will be remembered as always having an infectious smile, even until the end of his life.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sandra Gardner.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Frankie Gullatt Lake; a son, Keith Lake and wife Robin; two sisters, Margie Moore and Brenda Brock and husband Skip; grandchildren, Kabot Wayne Lake and Kennedy Thorton and husband Miles; great-grandchildren, Collins and Myers; as well as extended family and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to his caregiver, Ann Warren and also, Columbus Hospice.
