William A. Agerton

February 24, 1943 — April 1, 2026

Valley, AL

William Arthur Agerton, a beloved husband, father, papa, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2026, at the age of 83. He was born on February 24, 1943, to Clara Inez Lowery and Arthur Agerton in Robertsdale, Alabama. A private interment will be held in Robertsdale, Alabama at a later date.

William was a man whose life was built on strength, meekness, and quiet wisdom. Growing up with very little, his experiences shaped the resilient, hardworking, and deeply grounded man he became. He carried with him a wealth of knowledge about agriculture and life, offering guidance on how one should live through example more than words. Though William was reserved by nature, his presence spoke volumes.

He had a deep love for the simple joys in life like the view of the lake from his home and drinking coffee from his Coleman cup that was older than some of you reading this now. William enjoyed old cars and spending time at car shows, where he could admire craftsmanship and share stories about his other love, his 1957 Chevy. He was known to be a good shot and took pride in that ability to take care any nuisance at the lake like snakes or pesky rope swings across the lake. At home, he found happiness in the kitchen, preparing meals that often-included shelling peas and butter beans for hours and cooking his famous homemade French fries and fried okra. Through this precious and simplistic act of kindness, he brought everyone he loved together.

His home on the lake was his sanctuary, a place where he felt at peace, surrounded by nature and the people he loved most. He found joy in fishing, hunting, running lines and noodles, and shared moments with his grandchildren that will be treasured forever.

William is survived by his loving wife, Rita; his daughters, Tina (Bruce) and Deborah (Richard); his sons, Jason (Kelley) and Justin; his grandchildren, Cody, Parker, and Leah; his sister, Delores Deck; and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his first wife Bobbie Jo Agerton, his brothers Edward and Ronnie Agerton, and parents Clara and Arthur Agerton.

He will be remembered as a gentle, humble man, a true teddy bear with a heart full of love. To those who knew him, he was nothing short of an angel on earth. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the lessons he shared, and the deep love he gave so freely.

He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
