William Woodrow Enfinger

May 26, 1939 — September 22, 2025

Phenix City

William Woodrow "Bill" Enfinger, age 86, of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2025, at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Alabama. Born on May 26, 1939, in Opelika, Alabama, to the late Woodrow Wilson and Janie Elizabeth Lisenby Enfinger.

Bill was the devoted husband of Gertha Nell Drake Enfinger for 64 wonderful years. Their enduring love and partnership were the cornerstone of a strong, close-knit family.

He was a proud and loving father to three children: LaDania Enfinger Norton (Rusty), Chris Enfinger (Janine), and Shaunna Enfinger Davis (Chris). His role as a father extended into an even greater legacy through his six grandchildren: Brandon Norton (Mary), Andrew Norton, Aaron Enfinger, Morgan Enfinger, Shelby Davis, and Mahalie Davis. He was blessed to welcome four great-grandchildren into his life: Lilah Norton, Toby Norton, Westyn Enfinger, and Wells Enfinger—each one bringing him joy and pride.

Bill is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Peggy McDonald (Sandy), and brother, Dan Enfinger (Linda), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his favorite outlaw, Lauren Ignelzi Norton.

Bill had a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming, camping, and simply being outside in the fresh Alabama air with his family. He, along with his wife, visited 49 states in the US and 5 Canadian provinces, camping in most of them. Bill especially loved planting flowers and took great pride in watching them bloom each season. A true craftsman at heart, Bill found joy in woodworking and, in later years, developed a passion for 3D printing. He delighted in making things for his family—whether it was a hand-carved piece of furniture, a toy, or a small invention. His creativity and skill were matched only by his desire to bring joy to those he loved.

He was known for his strong work ethic and deep devotion to his family. Bill had an excellent sense of humor, a generous heart, and a wisdom that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Whether he was sharing stories on the porch, cheering at a ballgame, or lending a helping hand, Bill made people feel seen, heard, and loved.

Though he has left this earthly home, his spirit lives on in the lives he touched and the family he cherished so deeply. He will be remembered for his kindness, integrity, and the quiet strength that defined his life.

A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, Alabama, on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service.
