William Kenneth “Kenny” Barefoot

October 3, 1964 — December 6, 2023

William Kenneth “Kenny” Barefoot, 59, of Salem, AL died at his home on Wednesday, December 6, 2023.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM (EST) on Saturday, December 09, 2023 at Beulah Baptist Church, 5500 Co. Road 270, Valley, AL 36854, with Bro. Mitchell Smith officiating according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL. A private interment will follow in Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until the funeral hour at the church on Saturday.

Mr. Barefoot was born October 3, 1964 in Columbus, GA son of Rex Robert Barefoot and Linda East Barefoot. He was an active member of Beulah Baptist Church where he often sang in the choir.  Kenny was a master machinist specializing in gear manufacturing. He preferred to work on analog lathes and mills versus the newer digital machines. Kenny also preferred to use simple machinist rulers and calculate measurements in his head or on paper. The machinery he worked with came from the old Muscogee Iron Works and West Point Foundry. Some of this equipment dated back to WWI & WWII.

Kenny enjoyed water sports, hunting, dancing and racing of any sort. He was an Eagle Scout and Assistant Scout Master for Troop #100 in Phenix City, AL. Here he enjoyed teaching young men to develop leadership skills, outdoor skills and interpersonal skills. Kenny was a man of character, skill, and integrity. We will miss him and the influence he had on our family and those around him, however his impact will continue for many years.

Survivors other than his parents, Rex and Linda Barefoot, Salem, AL include his son, Kenneth Austin Barefoot; one sister, Tina Barefoot (Vance Davis) and one brother, Robert Glenn Barefoot (Kellie); Austin’s mother, Jan Holbrook; special aunt, Deborah Few and special niece and nephew, Krystina Jones and Cole Barefoot; several other uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, www.stjude.org, the Beulah Community Food Bank or a charity of your choice.
