The family will receive friends Thursday, January 16, 2020 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
Betty was born on February 16, 1946 in Andalusia, AL to the late James Doran Dunn and Mary Clark Dunn. She was employed with the Muscogee County School District Print Shop for over 22 years where she worked with the DocuTech. Betty was Baptist by faith and a former member of Britt David Baptist Church in Columbus, GA.
Betty lived her life to the fullest. She enjoyed the excitement of traveling and meeting new people. When it came to sports, her devotion, without a doubt, was with the Alabama Crimson Tide AND Auburn Tigers. She was quite the fan! In addition to college football, she liked to watch NASCAR. Betty was an avid animal lover, especially when it came to her fur babies, Angel and Caesar. Her greatest pleasures, however, were found in caring for and spending time with her family. Betty was a remarkable woman who left an undeniable fingerprint on the lives of all who knew her. She will be dearly missed but will always hold a very special place in their hearts.
Survivors include her loving and devoted spouse of 47 years, Retired Battalion Chief William McCarty; daughters, Kellie McCarty Osborn (Travis) of Columbus, GA and Melissa McCarty of Cataula, GA; sister, Debra Wallace (Michael) of Pace, FL; grandchildren, Griffin Osborn and Connor Osborn.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Animal SOS, 8734 Whitesville Rd, Columbus, GA 31904.
